Find your pace

The skill

Read at a steady, followable pace.

A steady pace gives listeners time to take in each point before the next one arrives.

  1. 1Take one easy breath, then read all three paragraphs aloud as if opening a real meeting.
  2. 2Do not race. Treat each full stop as a small stop sign.
  3. 3Check your words per minute afterwards. About 130 to 160 is a guide, not a target.
Coach tips
  • Listen back for: any sentence that sounds rushed, especially "ten hours" and "I need approval".
  • Common mistake: speeding up when nervous. Breathe at each full stop to reset.

I recommend extending our pilot for one more week. The first trial saved the team ten hours, and customers received faster answers. We also found one training issue that needs attention before a wider launch. This week, we can fix that issue with the five people already involved. Today, I need approval to continue the trial. At our next meeting, I will share the results and a recommendation for what happens next.
