SmartSpeak is a presentation-practice app built to be private by design. We do not run accounts, and your practice audio is processed entirely on your device.
We use the microphone only while you are recording a practice take. Your recording is analysed on your device (pace, pauses, tone, volume and fillers) and, when needed, transcribed on your device. Your audio is never uploaded to us or to any third party, and we do not store it on any server. Recordings live only in your device's memory for the length of a session.
To turn speech into text, the app loads a small speech-recognition model from the app itself (served from this site) once and caches it on your device. Only the model is downloaded: your voice is not sent anywhere. Transcription then runs locally and works offline.
Your progress (streak, XP, scores and recent takes) and microphone-calibration settings are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. They are not transmitted to us. Clearing the app's data or using "Reset all progress" removes them. "Send feedback" in Profile opens your own email app with a draft that includes your device and browser type; nothing is sent unless you send it.
The optional one-time "Pro" unlock is processed by Google Play. We never see or receive your payment information. Google processes the transaction under its own privacy policy. After a purchase, the app sends the purchase receipt (a code from Google Play that contains no payment details) to our server once, only so we can confirm the purchase with Google as Google requires. We do not store it and it is not linked to your practice data.
The app's files are delivered by our hosting provider, Netlify. Like any web host, it briefly processes technical request data such as your IP address in its server logs to deliver the app and keep it secure. We do not use those logs to identify or profile you.
SmartSpeak sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising code. The only storage it uses is the on-device storage described above, which the app needs in order to work, so there is no cookie banner. Microphone access is always asked for by your device first, and you can withdraw it at any time in your device settings.
If you choose to add a practice reminder, the app opens your own calendar with the event filled in. We do not receive or store it.
Because your practice data stays on your device, you control it directly: "Reset all progress" in Profile, or clearing the app's data, deletes it. If you live in the EU, the UK, Australia or another place with data protection law, you also have the right to ask us what we hold about you and to complain to your local regulator. We hold nothing beyond any email you choose to send us; write to the address below and we will answer within 30 days.
We do not collect personal information, do not require sign-in, and do not use advertising or third-party tracking. We do not sell or share any data, because we do not collect it.
SmartSpeak is intended for a general, working-professional audience and is not directed at children.
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
SmartSpeak is made by an independent developer based in Australia, who is responsible for the app. Questions about privacy? Email lahoguetom@gmail.com.
